A Little Bit of Clapham Common Bandstand History

Concerts were a regular occurance well into the late seventies and early eighties until finally the Banstand was closed due to disrepair.

For some years the bandstand remained closed, but in the summer of 2003 the owners, Lambeth Council, were persuaded by the Friends of Clapham Common and the Clapham Society to participate in a major fundraising and restoration project. The project was a success and to everyone’s delight, the bandstand was reponed in the Summer of 2006

Interesting Fact:

Originally built in 1890, Clapham Common’s bandstand is the largest in London!
