Sarah will describe her path from criminal barrister to farmer and why it made her believe that how our food is grown is relevant to us all, whether or not we ever step foot in a field.  As one of the leading advocates for the growing regenerative farming revolution, Sarah will explore through real world stories and accounts why she believes that what she learned in a field might offer solutions for many the world’s poly-crises: not only our planetary, human and mental health but what we might can from the natural world about the power of connection and community.

Our Speaker

Sarah Langford is a local Clapham resident and Clapham Society member as well as a best selling author. Sarah left her country roots behind to live and work in the city as a barrister and wrote about her experience then in her first book "In Your Defence" . Many years later she found herself unexpectedly in charge of a Suffolk farm where she quickly faced the realities of the burden that many farmers are finding impossible trying to make a living producing food in an environment battered by climate change, Brexit and a hostile press and public. Her lates book called Rootedtells the stories of the realities of farming in the 21st century and puts forward a powerful case: that the task of restoring our earth and ensuring a sustainable future lies int eh hands of those who live closest to the land.
