Beating the Bounds: A walking tour around the Clapham parish boundary
Beating the Bounds – A leisurely 3-4 hour walking tour around parts of the Clapham Parish boundary: looking at aspects of its history, and charting some of the historic boundary markers still visible today. The first recorded instance in Clapham of the ancient custom of Beating the Bounds was in 1695. This year we’ll tackle half the route, starting at the Common and ending at the Brixton Windmill, just off Lyham Road, discovering hidden gems and local history along the way.
