Wandsworth Heritage Festival
12th May 2025

This year’s Wandsworth Heritage Festival is the biggest yet for Wandsworth’s year as the London Borough of Culture: From the 13th June to the 13th July 2025.
For the first time, the festival will last for four weeks and is timed to share a week with the Wandsworth Arts Fringe. As Cllr Akinola says in her introduction, the programme aims to show how culture and heritage intersect with one another and form part of one another. As a result, we have arts events inspired by the heritage of our borough, and heritage events inspired by the arts of our borough!
Highlights include art installations, dance, and performance exploring place and memory; a walk through the Surrey Iron Railway route uncovering stories accompanied by soundscapes; a talk in our very own modern palace of variety, the Clapham Grand; literary walks through Wandsworth and Clapham Common; a talk (with musical accompaniment!) in the Chapel of Lambeth Cemetery about the once glittering music hall stars who now call Lambeth Cemetery home; poetry events; plaque unveilings; and walks uncovering the natural flora and fauna found here.

The programme comes together every year thanks to the willingness of local societies and contributors.
