Wetland Area Construction Under Way

Work is well underway in creating the new wetland on Clapham Common, next to Eagle pond. This is a major project involving many organisations and fundraisers, led by The Friends of Clapham Common and Wild Clapham. You may notice some tree stumps in the foreground: These are Willows that have been deliberately coppiced to produce multi-stem trees. The planting of 10 new trees and extensive wetland and wildflower will greatly improve the biodiversity and ecology of the common, which won’t be completely apparent until summer of next year.
