Mills of the River Wandle
The Wandle was once described as the hardest working river for its size in the world. It has been home to mills since Roman times, and thirteen mills were listed in the Domesday Survey of 1086. At the height of its power the Wandle had around sixty five mills, if not more, operating along its twelve miles length. This talk looks at the river and its industries.
