Van Gogh and his Poetry
Michael Glover will talk about both Van Gogh and his lifelong love of poetry, and also read from ‘Vincent’s Poets’, his own book of poems written in response to Van Gogh the man, his life, his ideas and his paintings.
Our Speaker
Michael Glover is a Clapham-based, Sheffield-born, Cambridge-educated poet, art critic, editor and publisher who has contributed regularly to the Financial Times, The Economist, The Times, the Independent, the New Statesman and The Tablet. He currently writes on art for Hyperallergic of Brooklyn.
Some of his many books include: Great Works: Encounters with Art (2016), Hypothetical May Morning (2017), John Ruskin: a Dictionary (2019), The Trapper (2021), Vincent’s Poets (2024), Cambridge Central Mosque (2024) and Searching for Ezra: a ragbag of frustrations (2025). He is currently writing a companion guide to William Blake for Thames & Hudson and a book about Van Gogh’s passion for poetry for Prestel. His most recent book of poetry, Thirst, will be published in December, 2025.
