Twixt the Commons
This walk will explore the development of Twixt the Commons from the eighteenth to twenty-first centuries. It will show how the present streets followed the long standing property divisions and how large villas were gradually replaced by terrace houses as the richer families moved out of London. Some names can easily be explained, but others are less clear. The picture shows one of the few remaining early nineteenth century houses. This walk is part of Wandsworth Heritage Festival
