‘Movers and Takers’, just published by the Streatham Society in conjunction with Streatham and Brixton Chess Club follows the 150-year history of the club, and the chess players, local and national, who lived hereabouts – and maybe died hereabouts as well. Streatham Cemetery can boast a tally of six Victorian chess players whose off-board diversions are the subject of this talk by Movers and Takers author Martin Smith. You don’t need to play chess to follow the talk, or enjoy the book!
