The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visit Clapham

HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited Clapham on 27 May 2021 to attend a reception at Adam Byatt’s Trinity Restaurant and to meet some independent local business people as the country recovers from lockdown.

The reception, marking the 40th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts of which the Prince is Patron, was attended by leading figures in the hospitality industry including several celebrity chefs, and apprentices.

Their Royal Highnesses were led by Jeremy Keates Manager of This is Clapham Bid and local Councillor Christopher Wellbelove on a brief tour of Old Town starting at Omnibus Theatre where they met Artistic Director, Marie McCarthy, and the cast of the forthcoming production An Evening with an Immigrant. The Prince then pulled a pint at the Prince of Wales pub, before continuing to Birksen Flowers, Old Town Barbers, Rex and Wolfe pet shop, with a final stop at Clapham Fire Station. En route they visited the wild flower meadow planted by the Bid and spoke to the Chair of the Clapham Common Management Committee about increasing diversity on the Common. They were also introduced to other local businessmen and chatted to members of the public.
