Planning Application for the Netball Courts on Rookery Road

layout
The proposed layout

This planning Application is open for consultation until 7th November and there is still time to register an opinion.

This application involves installing new 3 metre high fencing around the present netball and basketball courts and adjacent skateboard park and 12 metre high floodlights.
Although the uses remain the same, the intensity will increase and high fencing and floodlighting will change the character of this part of the Common.

There have been strong objections to this proposal from local people. These include objections to the enclosure of yet more common land, the restricted view of the common that would result and the flood lighting at night. Further, there is strong feeling that the local residents should not be charged for the use of the area and the proposed 3 metre fence is far too high.

It has also been suggested that there has been a lack of proper consultation and drawings.

If you wish to make your own representation you can do so at the Lambeth Planning Website – Reference number 14/00394/RG3

Consultation closes on 7 November.
